36.看經寺

看經寺位於萬佛溝北側，建造於唐武周（690-704）時期，是東山規模最大的洞窟。平面方形，四壁直立，窟頂方形，中部呈球面凹狀，高8.25、寬11.16、深11.7公尺。前室方形，平頂。龕楣漫漶，相對刻二身飛天，僅存部份飄帶，窟門高大寬敞，高6.4、寬5.22、厚0.8公尺，門兩側各刻一力士像。窟頂中央刻蓮花藻井及飛天，窟底無雕飾。此窟大部份壁面素淨無飾，除了少部份的小龕與小坐佛外，最突出的是東、南、北三壁下部浮雕羅漢二十九身，此系西土二十九祖的形象。據《歷代寶法記》，西土二十九祖傳法譜系，即摩訶迦葉至菩提達摩二十九人。這組造像，神情各異，寫實生動，為唐代人物雕刻之精品。
