Description

Practical Ethics is a course focusing on specific actions concerning ethical and moral issues. It is not ethical theory, normative moral guidance, nor applied meta-ethics; rather, it brings the theory and practice of ethics into dialogue with real-world problems. Practical ethics explores critical and significant ethical issues, especially those encountered in the daily life of the contemporary world. Practical ethics goes beyond theoretical debates; it addresses issues at the pragmatic and implementational level.

Learning Objectives

The goal of this course is 

  1. To explore fundamental ethical theories, methodologies and principles, 
  2. To make students become familiar with major controversial issues and the main schools of thought in the field of practical ethics, 
  3. To cultivate students’ capability in thinking independently and critically, 
and To strengthen students’ in-depth understanding of the meaning and values of ethics as well as the wisdom of action.
