The School is like a Koan case which the founder of DDU wanted us to ponder on. It is a term which is rich with abundant yet abstract meanings and though it offers in itself all possible facets, the core value remains the transmission and creation of “life”

Mission and Vision

DDU is a university of practice, and the axis of the SLL is to promote and implement Ven. Sheng Yen’s ideas of “protecting the spiritual environment”.

This school is established not only to respond to the impetuousness of the increasingly technology-oriented human world, but also to focus on the consolidation and promotion of the wisdom of life in the Eastern and Western civilizations in the past.  Another reason for the establishment has been to teach the students, from their own daily life situations, how to understand and experience the meaning of life, and apply what they have learned in life.  This way they will be able to get to know and understand the significance and value of human existence, to help both themselves and the community get meaningful life experiences and individual achievements, and to contribute to the community and benefit the world at the same time.
