Mission and Vision

Advanced countries are keen to develop a strong education in national culture, because of its widespread use in the areas of arts, culture and society in general. The vision of the School of Arts and Culture (SAC) is to guide and direct talented and passionate students of the arts and culture so that they can increase their range of vision and can explore the various applications of arts and culture. The mission of the SAC is to answer the needs of a diverse society and of the technological evolution, to develop essential cross-disciplinary critical knowledge, and to apply core skills which will increase the quality of artistic cultural knowledge. At the same time, students are expected to adopt values that embrace diversity, develop their life wisdom, and strengthen their will power and aspirations to face the challenges of the times and the environment.

Foster Core Skills and Competence to Stay in Touch with Contemporary Trends

The rise of the Digital Era has bridged the spatial distance between individuals, which has therefore increased both the pace and the diversity of society. This development in technology has not only caused tremendous changes in society, but has also opened up a door to innovations in the fields of art and culture, which were suppressed for a long time by the prosperity of the industrialization. Furthermore, technology has transformed both the methods of transmitting, recording, spreading and researching culture and art, and the ways that society shows its loving care and concern. Faced with such social changes and differing needs, the SAC aims to teach and cultivate students’ vital practical skills and competence, in addition to emphasizing vast cross-disciplinary knowledge.

Construct a Platform for Sharing Artistic and Cultural Resources from Around the World

With the spread of digital devices and increased communication between individuals, various modes of interaction have expanded the range of people’s participation in the world.  The SAC plans to take advantage of this contemporary trend to attain its long-term goal, by constructing a shared platform of cultural resources, thereby crossing the boundaries between countries. Other important goals of the SAC include the collective advancement of academic research, the development of applied foundations[KV1] , the promotion of cultural diversity, and the establishment of an archive of cultural resources.

Promote Fundamental Research and Enrich Empirical Knowledge

Fundamental research is the main source of technological development and applied research. The SAC not only establishes an Art and Culture platform which serves to accumulate related fundamental research, but also concerns itself with the creative process of production, application and diffusion of knowledge. In the research process it is necessary to clarify the meaning and the role of “creation.” The SAC hopes to combine inter-disciplinary functions and external resources to actively create opportunities for cooperation. Furthermore, we expect to bridge the results of fundamental research and creative production of knowledge by adding effective value-added applications to boost the productive benefits of artistic and cultural knowledge.

Create an Internationalized Learning Environment

In order to construct a wholesome learning environment, which provides easy access to the international arena, the SAC appoints outstanding faculty with international reputation, delivers course content and instruction mainly in English, provides lectures by leading international scholars, develops a curriculum which includes required overseas practicum and, also, recruits graduate students from other countries. At the same time, the SAC actively pursues all opportunities to establish sister relationships with well-known universities in the world, thereby promoting academic exchanges and visits of both faculty and students. In addition, the SAC sponsors exchange programs, encourages participation in international events, expands its international exchanges and provides all the hardware and software support in order to create a top-quality learning and living environment.
