School of Philanthropy
We believe that the meaning of life is not about the accumulation of material wealth; rather it’s about achieving better qualities of life for others because of your contribution.
MISSION
The School of Philanthropy is aiming to develop altruism in students, providing students with superb leadership and management training to become change agents for the world.
AREAS OF EMPHASIS
The School of Philanthropy is seeking to empower students to become agents of innovation. The areas of emphasis help students to cultivate their specialties and to pursue graduate programs.
Social Enterprise and Innovation
Social Enterprise and Innovation provides students with skills for creating and managing social enterprises. It offers students the chance to get “hands-on” experiences by participating in real entrepreneurial projects. The focus of training is on marketing, management, and entrepreneurship skills. In addition, it encourages students to be familiar with the trends, challenges, and opportunities in information & communication technologies for development.
Social Policy and Governance
Social Policy and Governance enables students to analyze wicked problems from economic, political, social, and cultural perspectives. It also helps students to work within complex systems of governance, collaborating with colleagues in government, business, and the social sector to create and disseminate innovations for the common good. It pays attention to the issues of self-governance and collective action, as well as advocacy in the public policy process.
Networks for Social Impact
Networks for Social Impact familiarizes students with social media tools and networking approaches to scaling up social innovation for greater social impact. It develops students' sensitivity and capacity toward information and communication technologies (ICT), preparing students to be able to work with businesses, governmental agents, and NGOs in planning and implementing ICT-related developmental projects. Additional research emphasis will be placed on the emerging global phenomenon of digital natives and its implications for education.
